Shari Simpson is a multi-faceted writer with credits in screenwriting, content creation (including online content creation), YA fiction writing and editing. She co-wrote the off-Broadway hit “Maybe Baby, It’s You”, which had two successful off-Broadway runs and a Hollywood run starring Tori Spelling. She also wrote the Disney Channel Original Movie “The Swap” (2016), both with her longtime writing partner, Charlie Shahnaian.
Shari and Charlie also worked together to write the book “Adventures in Love” which, as a musical, was produced by Kevin McCollum (the original producer of “Rent”) for Ordway Theater. Additonally, they wrote the screenplay “Welcome to Jaimeville”. Shari’s children’s play “The Story Tree Gang” has been performed in New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago and Jamaica. She is also known for “Sweet Sweet Summertime”, “Forever Lost & Found”, “The Passion of Danny Burke” and “The Louise Log”.
Shari won the 2012 BlogHer Voice of the Year for Humor Writing. She is the mastermind behind the humor parenting blog “Earth Mother just means I’m dusty”. She has written for NickMom, In The Powder Room, Cool Mom Picks and is the editor of Mommy Poppins New Jersey. She also wrote YA fiction book ”Sam Saves the Night” (Book 1 of “SleepWakers” series) on Disney Books online.
Shari received her masters in acting from the American Conservatory Theater. She played Nina in “The Seagull” at A.C.T. Studio, the title role of “Iphigenia” at the Huntington Theatre, Celemine in “The Misanthrope” at off-Broadway’s York Theater, and several roles in the Lincoln Center production of “A Wrinkle in Time”. She also performed with the comedy troupe Gotham City Improv and has played roles on “Another World” and “Law and Order.” Below are just a few of her accomplishments.
