Markus Scott is a former athlete then CPA, turned entrepreneur, visionary and corporate development strategist. Currently he serves as a managing partner with Lighthouse Equity Partners, an operator-led investment firm he founded in 2013 to acquire a $10 – $35 million revenue company he would step in to lead post-acquisition; CEO and President of NVMC Solutions, a turnaround investment he acquired through Lighthouse Equity Partners in 2015 which is now the fastest growing video surveillance technology company in North America; a consultant to industry-focused private equity investors; a frequent thought-leader for security, technology, finance and entrepreneurship publications; and a guest-lecturer at Stanford GSB. He has deep experience in deal sourcing, valuation, capital raising, negotiation, turnarounds, and effectively leading both for-profit and not-for-profit growth enterprises but he is also uniquely talented at building effective teams from both his professional as well as athletic backgrounds.
As the “Chief Guard Dog” of NVMC Solutions, a provider of innovative, remote video surveillance solutions and business intelligence; Markus has served as the chief architect of a best-in-class team that has scaled revenues over 400% over three years. This investment which began as a turnaround, has even more impressively outperformed the market with a 4.2% customer attrition ratio (versus an industry average of 13%) due to what Markus describes as a maniacal focus on talent and core values. NVMC Solutions is now the 70th largest security alarm company in the U.S. fueled by its innovation and a best-in-class organization with a clear target to break the top 20 in the next three years. In this capacity, Markus was recognized as a Top 20 Under 40 for the industry in 2018, and is also a current nominee for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Program.
Prior to his current role, Markus was a private equity investor with Brockway Moran & Partners, a $1.3 billion fund focused on middle market investments where he served on the healthcare, education and security investment teams (three industries he feels passionate about); an advisory consultant at leading public accounting firms, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, and Ernst & Young; and a walk-on linebacker/fullback for the University of Florida Gators football team. Outside of business and athletics, Markus has devoted an equal passion to philanthropic, community-development focused efforts such as assisting the Afghan Ministry of Finance train staff developing its first tax code; capital raising for scholarship programs for children in affordable housing communities; and servant leadership focused training programs for high school and college students looking to impact the world around them.
Markus speaks with a unique insight considering his diverse background in accounting, finance, mergers and acquisitions and athletics. He is equally gifted with integrity and a great sense of ethics in an ever changing world. Below are just a few of his accomplishments.
