Doctor Larry Scipioni is a physicist and a physical sciences innovation professional. He is a technologically sophisticated executive that thrives on achievement and innovation. Doctor Scipioni also serves as the Chief Technology Officer for PVD Products, an engineer-to-order company that provides unique thin film deposition systems and components for material scientists and process engineers. PVD’s equipment is used in both R&D and production environments. A wide variety of their custom deposition systems are now operating in many high-profile universities and national labs around the world, as well as start-up and Fortune 500 companies. As such, Doctor Scipioni synthesizes input equally well from customers and internal company resources as well as academic sources to solidly make informed product decisions in complex environments. He manages a variety of responsibilities in his current role, including specializing in research, staff development, technology management, negotiation, project management, strategic development, leadership, budget management and product development.
Previously Doctor Scipioni served as the VP of Research and Development for ZS Genetics, which engages in the research, development, and commercialization of a single-molecule technology for DNA sequencing. The company develops electron microscopy-based DNA sequencing technology, which is used to read DNS sequences directly from digital images of DNA itself. He also served as Director of Applications for Carl Zeiss NTS, one of the world leading manufacturers of microscopes, a broad range of optical sectioning systems as well as high-resolution X-ray microscopes. And he served as Director of Research and Technology for FEI Company, now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in service science.
