Doctor Howard Loree holds two degrees in mechanical engineering from MIT (B.S. and M.S.) and a Ph.D. in medical engineering from the Harvard-MIT Division of Health and Technology. He completed his postdoctoral training in cardiovascular biomechanics at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
For the past 24 years, Dr. Loree has held positions of increasing responsibility in the medical device industry and has proven his ability to recruit, lead, mentor and build exceptional engineering teams. He currently serves as the Vice President of Research and Development for Flow Medical, a startup medical device company developing products to treat patients with chronic kidney failure. His specialty is the development of the rotary blood pump systems which are now widely used as cardiac assist devices (i.e. artificial hearts.)
Dr. Loree has authored or co-authored 16 articles in peer-reviewed journals, co-authored three book chapters, holds three patents in the area of biomedical engineering and is a frequent presenter at scientific conferences worldwide. Additionally, he has raised $2.6M in NIH funding for medical device development and has supported several successful applications for FDA approval of clinical trials and commercial products.
