Description

Sherwin has been happily married to Debbie for many years now. He met his wife in Gainesville Florida while pursuing his undergraduate degree in Piano at the University of Florida where he graduated with honors. Debbie is also a formidable speaker and a three time cancer survivor. Sherwin grew up with a single mom, who made pillow cases for him and his sister so that they could go selling things door to door to pay for their piano lessons. His mother bought him a trumpet with S&H Green Stamps so that he could be part of a band. He was the first in his family to go to college and his mother only had a 4th grade education. His mother prayed when she was pregnant for him with hopes that he would be able to play the piano and make music for God. She left an abusive, alcoholic husband in California to travel to Florida to be with her family to give Sherwin and his my sister a new start.

He has served as an Adult Ministry/Creative Arts Minister at the North River Church in Marietta, GA. For 17 years, Sherwin served in the ministry for the New York City Church, where he later served as an elder. He has collaborated with New York writer, Shari Cabelin, on numerous projects including the HOPE Youth Corps “Story Tree Gang.” He has also worked with New York married powerhouse Winston & CJay Philip on various projects, including Teresa Brown’s album, “Holiday Souvenirs,” of which he co-wrote the title song.
