John Hanes is an attorney and a public speaker. His great grand-father was the founder of what is now the iconic Hanes Brand and clothing line. His grandfather was a turnaround specialist and senior partner at Smith Barney and was appointed and sworn into oath of office for the U.S. Treasury by Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1937. He assisted FDR when he created the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) as part of the regulation and packed it with respected businessmen. His father was a war veteran who later served with the CIA for three decades.
Has currently serves as a Partner and attorney with Rivera & Hanes, P.L. a well as a corporate attorney with proficiency in trusts & estates and legal research. John has exceptional oral communication and written communication skills with the ability to master and understand even the most complex statutes. He is a draftsman adept at writing flexible documents and analyzing and reviewing complex legal matters. He is able to prepare and argue motions, legal briefs and customary litigation filings; attend hearings and depositions; research cases and statutes pertaining to complex litigation. He trains and advises owners, senior management and boards in compliance, risk management/mitigation, proper governance, and creation/interpretation of rules, regulations, policies and procedures. He crafts, reviews and negotiates contracts for corporations, professional services, and real estate transactions. He drafts wills, trusts, charitable foundations, and non-probate transfer and estate planning documents. John has examined complex international land titles to determine status and/or establish chain of title. He has analyzed and abstracted all documents affecting real property. He has crafted and issued specialized commitments, policies and endorsements. He has written training materials and conducted staff training sessions. He has counseled developers and attorneys in nuances of foreign real estate development. He has successfully researched and closed title insurance in excess of eighty million dollars. He has created legal departments responsible for the incorporation, auditing and handling of legal matters of over eighty non-profit corporations throughout six states, Africa and the Caribbean, with a combined budget of over forty million dollars. He provides advice to Chief Executives, Boards and Human Resources departments of each associated corporation. He has recruited, trained, and managed legal department staff; supervised and trained Information Systems and Risk Management personnel.
